Why Choose Kar Reno for Your East York Bathroom Renovation
East York is minutes from our North York base, and we know its homes well: brick bungalows and semi-detached houses from the 1940s and 1950s, Leaside’s character homes, and the apartment and condo towers of Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park. Many of these homes still have one small original bathroom, so every square foot matters.
Kar Reno has 20+ years of experience making small bathrooms work harder, with wall-mounted vanities, walk-in showers with frameless glass, recessed niches and better lighting. In older East York homes we also check for outdated plumbing and hidden water damage, and we handle City of Toronto building permits whenever plumbing moves or a bathroom is added.
What Makes Our East York Bathroom Renovations Stand Out
- One dedicated project manager as your single point of contact for your bathroom renovation, from start to handover.
- Our in-house design team creates a 3D render of your bathroom before work begins, so there are no surprises later.
- All bathroom permits are handled by our team, start to finish.
- Wholesale pricing on every material — tile, fixtures, vanities — with the savings passed straight to you.
- One fixed-price contract with a fully itemized scope, materials list, and timeline, all upfront.
Types of Bathroom Renovations We Offer in East York
Combined Shower and Tub Bathroom
Perfect for growing families, our combined shower and tub bathrooms blend everyday practicality with a polished, spa-inspired finish. Deep soaker tubs, sleek tile surrounds, and space-smart layouts make the most of every square foot. Combined shower and tub renovations in East York typically range from $12,000–$20,000 depending on fixtures and finishes.
Walk-In Shower Bathroom
Step into a sleek, curbless walk-in shower with frameless glass, linear drains, and large-format tile for a clean, modern look. Built for accessibility and everyday ease without sacrificing style. Walk-in shower renovations in East York typically range from $15,000–$25,000 depending on tile selection and glass configuration.
Master Bathroom
Transform your ensuite into a luxury private retreat with heated floors, floating vanities, frameless glass showers, large-format tile, and premium finishes. Custom master bathroom renovations in East York often range from $25,000–$50,000+ depending on the size of the space, material selections, and custom features. See our bathroom cost guide for a full breakdown.
Powder Room
Make a bold first impression with a beautifully finished powder room. Statement wallpaper, designer fixtures, and space-efficient vanities turn even the smallest room into a showpiece. Powder room renovations in East York typically range from $8,000–$15,000 depending on finishes and layout.
Before & After: A Recent Kar Reno Bathroom Project
After
Our renovation team transformed the space into a bright, spa-inspired bathroom. A sleek walk-in shower replaced the old tub-shower combo, a floating vanity added a modern touch, and heated flooring brought everyday comfort. Kar Reno designed every detail, from tile to lighting, to give the homeowners a space that feels like a private retreat.
Before
This bathroom was dated and cramped, with a worn tub-shower combo, outdated tile, and dim lighting that made the space feel smaller than it was. Like many older homes across the GTA, the layout no longer suited the homeowners’ needs. Storage was limited, grout was stained and cracking, and moisture damage had started to appear around the tub, a space the homeowners avoided rather than enjoyed.

East York Bathroom Renovation FAQs
Most bathroom renovations in East York cost between $12,000 and $25,000. A powder room typically runs $8,000–$15,000. Older homes sometimes need plumbing updates once the walls are open, and we flag these in your quote whenever we can see them in advance.
East York is part of the City of Toronto. Cosmetic updates usually don’t need a permit, but moving plumbing, changing walls or adding a bathroom requires a City of Toronto building permit. Kar Reno prepares the application and books the inspections.
We use wall-mounted vanities, large-format tile with fewer grout lines, frameless glass instead of shower curtains, recessed niches instead of shelves, and brighter layered lighting. Replacing a tub with a walk-in shower also opens up a lot of floor space.
Older East York homes often have galvanized or cast-iron pipes, uneven floors and no proper waterproofing behind the tile. We check for these during the estimate and replace what’s needed so your new bathroom lasts.
Yes. A basement bathroom is a popular addition in East York homes with only one bathroom. It requires a building permit, and the cost depends on the location of the drains. We assess it during your free estimate.
Yes. Kar Reno is a licensed, HomeStars award-winning contractor with $2M liability insurance and WSIB registration. All completed work comes with a 2-year warranty.
